Course Overview

Smart Homes: A Practical Guide for The Home Inspector

Understanding the unique aspects of a smart home and how they work and are incorporated into the home can set you apart and help set your client's expectations. Smart homes present more challenges to the home inspector but can be as simple as incorporating lighting, audio, automation, and mechanical systems controlled by a voice or user interface. This course will give you the knowledgebase and understanding, so you better communicate to your clients what they are buying and if they are buying a smart home or a dumb home with smart devices. You'll learn how to tell if you are inspecting a smart home and how to identify smart home devices.

Bio:

Mark Goodman is an ASHI Certified Inspector who entered the home inspection industry in 2014. A Director for the American Society of Home Inspectors and the St. Louis ASHI Chapter. A smart home enthusiast who, for nearly 20 years, Mark successfully owned and operated a professional construction company specializing in general contracting, remodeling, construction, and project management. Mark has also been involved in residential property management, project management, pr/marketing, and the hardware and building material industries.
